The Mixed Martial Arts world lost one of its own over the weekend.  With a heavy heart I have to say that Matt Norstrand passed away over the weekend.

    If you have been to any shows in the area Ground Force Fights or F.C.P. you will know who he is.  I have called a lot of his fights.  He was a true fighter that fought because he truly loved the sport.  He did not fight to be on Social Media, he fought like the fighters of my day for the love of fighting.

     I did not know him all that well.  We had a running joke that when I called his fights I always gave him the wrong nickname (It was “The Berserker”) He always seemed like a good guy and everyone that has reached out to me have all said how he helped them get through rough patches in their own lives. 

    I regret never getting the chance to roll with him in the back at an event I would have loved to feel his “squeeze”.  I watched this man finish submissions that were not in deep enough just with the power in his choking squeeze.  He represented Ground Force Fights well as the champion as well as this area.

   I do not know much about what happened besides he was thrown from his bike in an accident, but this community lost a great prospect, A great personality and an even better person this weekend.
