BUMA v 765 TOP TEAM

K-4 is back at Buffalo Riverworks April 29th.  This is a show you can’t miss.  Pro fights, title fights, Woman fights.  Keith Forant mixes real Muay Thai fights and mma on all the K-4 fights.  He puts on a show like no other in the area.  I am going to give you the breakdown of the card and the stories behind the fights.

I am a local guy and I like trash talk probably more than I should so I am super intrigued by the Buffalo United Martial Arts (BUMA) battle against 765 Top Team.  The rivalry started with one of the KO kings of K-4 Isaiah Ket (BUMA) earning his KO King title against Skylar Neathery (765 TT) with the head kick heard round the world. To his credit Skylar came right back and picked up a win by rnc on the last K-4.

When Skylar won, he called out Rob Vanthoff from Buma.  This started a cascade effect in 765 top team as they all asked to be on the card against Buma fighters. Rob Vanthoff (Buma) v Skylar Neathery (765) Josh Reichardt (BUMA) v Dorian Gordan (765) and the super heavyweights Tyrique Ransom (Buma) v Xavier Cartes (765) all came from a head kick in 2022.

The 765 guys gained some local popularity from the 5citymma throwing hammers podcast and the all the calls/caveman’s corner podcast and called out the fighters from BUMA.  Usually Keith gives his guys the hardest fights on the card to show he isn’t favoring his guys.  What are you going to do as a promoter though if a team gives you three fights against your guys with some talking to go with it.

I hope the 765 Top Team guys know what they are asking for. I feel like they are underestimating the BUMA fighters.  Time will tell though I have been wrong before.  Tyrique is a scary guy I hope Xavier has a plan to get the fight to deep waters and test his cardio.  I think either way this fight ends with knockout of the night man neither of these guys can make 265 they are BIG humans.  I can’t believe I am the same species as these guys. They are like 2 of me.  Be ready for one of the biggest thuds you will ever hear when these guys hit the canvas.

Josh and Dorian have been at each other on the interwebs and on the podcast.  While Josh’s record isn’t the best, he has fought nothing but very high-quality opponents.  Dorian is coming up in weight to fight Josh as well.  Dorian feels his speed will counteract Josh’s size advantage.  Josh is confident Dorian will be easy work.  Dorian will have to work to stay out of the clinch with Josh.  I am excited to see this one, these guys really don’t like one another.  Is Dorian too fast? Is Josh too big?  The real question and the one that will be answered Saturday night is who the better fighter is.

The start of this whole rivalry was Rob and Skylar and I think this fight is the most even of the bunch.  Rob starts out slow, is measured and technical.  Skylar is a wild man hunting for the finish rough around the edges but making up for lack of technique with heart violence and grit.  In his last fight Skylar showed much improved striking and finished with a rear naked choke.  He finished without hooks and just squeezed the blood from his opponent’s brain.  If he has improved as much between the last fight and this one as he did last time this will be a very good fight.  So, grab some concessions from Riverworks and get your tickets at buffaloriverworks.com/event/rise-up
