Ground Force is back and invading the Keenen center in Lockport. We talked about the main event between Joe Taylor and Thomas Jenkins last time. Today we are going to talk about the rest of title fights on the card and there are a bunch of them. Saturday the fights are going down.
Morgan Cavanaugh is taking on Donaven Levi in a rematch of there FCP title scrap. In their last bout Morgan jumped out to an early lead securing a takedown and landing some heavy ground and pound. Donaven was able to secure a triangle choke and finish Morgan late in the first round. These guys put on a show at FCP and there is some bad blood between them. Both guys can fight on the feet and on the ground.
Can Morgan learn from the last fight and finish Levi or does Donaven have his number? Donaven looked confident in their last fight and looked comfortable on the feet and finished the fight on the ground. Morgan took Levi down easy and choose to stay in the triangle and try and finish the fight with ground and pound. I have spoken with Morgan, and I know he will be coming back looking for revenge. This one could go either way and will not go the distance.
Mark Murry is taking on Kyle Kahler. Mark Murry has been in the game a long time. He has been fighting so long he has probably fought for every organization belt. He has 26 amateur fights and is one tough ornery son of a bitch. He has good striking, solid wrestling, good cage work and much improved Jiu Jitsu. Kyle is the 155-pound champ of Cage Wars. He is coming off a big Ko win and is looking to add some more titles to his belt. He has shown great wrestling defense and a tenacious striking offense. If you haven’t seen his clinch escape in his last title fight, check it out.
This is an up and comer versus a grizzled veteran. Mark has so many fights I am rooting for him to come up with the W. He has more time in the cage then any local fighter probably any two. Can’t wait to see this one.
John Marconi is taking on Dominick Guildersleeve in a Super Heavy weight K-1 title bout. Everyone loves to see big men throw bombs and this one won’t let people down. Marconi is looking to unload the macaroni (get the knockout) in this bout. John is a great guy with a great attitude until the bell rings. Once the bell rings people go to sleep when they fight him. He has power in both hand and feet. Guildersleeve throws for the fences and has a gas tank.
These two have clashed before with Marconi taking a W in an MMA bout. Now these two get another chance to do it without takedowns and groundwork. No hugging only giant men trying to hurt each other. When you think you of heavy weight clash this is the kind of fight you are thinking of.
There is one more heavyweight scrap on this card and it is going to be another one that is not going the Distance. We have Jaime Hare vs undefeated prospect Dan Bunyan. Jaime is a solid wrestler whose stand up only continues to get better and better. He works with my Kru and mentor Mark Shaw so I am excited to see how good his striking looks. Dan is a striker grappler that goes for broke. I saw he has a bit of grappling experience as well.
I think Dan is going to be the bigger fighter for this contest. Jaime should have the edge in explosion so these guys are matched well. Both guys seem to throw caution to the wind when they fight. I expect this one could be in the running for fight of the night. I think Jaime will be looking to land a big shot and open up a takedown and Dan will be trying to take his head off. Both guys are versed on the mat as well so expect a battle on the feet or on the floor. Two true heavyweights squaring off is something not to be missed.
