Caveman is back!! It has been a really really long time, but I am finally back to talk about local fights. FCP came back and paved the way for local shows to come back. So, let’s all make sure we give FCP there due. The Abid brothers are definitely a huge part of the local MMA scene.
I am not here to talk about shows past though. THIS WEEKEND 7/24/21, Ground Force Fights are back. Not only are they back post pandemic, but, they are bringing World Class kickboxing back to Lockport. Not since the glory days of Lace Up has there been such high-level fights in the area. Local champion and Glory fighter Joe Taylor is fighting Thomas Jenkins. If this sounds like a familiar fight, it was supposed to happen in Glory.
They are fighting for the WKA and Ground Force Fights Cruiserweight title. This will be a fight that could be on any stage and any card in the world and, thanks to Ground Force Fights, we have it in Buffalo. I have hyped up a lot of fights over the years, but Rich Mitchell really went above and beyond to put this fight card together. I will break down the rest of the fights on the card this week, but this one deserves a post all of its own.
Joe Taylor is the star of Lockport and is fighting out of his own gym JT’s Mixed Martial Arts in Lockport. He has been a champion in kickboxing and MMA. He has fought all over the world, on the biggest stages of his sport. He is coming in looking to add to his collection of titles against Thomas Jenkins. Jenkins is a go for broke kick boxer. He has a few losses but all four of his wins are by knock out. Jenkins should have a reach advantage; Taylor should be more explosive. It is a great clash of styles that I cannot wait to watch.
With the pandemic layoff, how are both of these guys going to be when the lights are on, and the fists and shins get flying? I can’t wait to see.
